There are battles that people fight every day: the snooze button, the last slice of pizza, the traffic light that turns red just when you arrive. And then there is the oldest battle of all: you against the wind and your own hair.
This clip features a very relatable hero. A woman in a soft gray hoodie walks along a street corner next to a red brick wall. The sky is cloudy, the air is chilly, and the wind has decided that today is the perfect day to redecorate her hairstyle.
At first she tries to stay calm. She tucks her hair behind her ears. She smooths it down with both hands. She looks into the camera with the determined face of a person who believes she can still win. The wind, however, has been practicing all morning.
The next moment is pure chaos. Strands fly across her face, stick to her lips, and wrap around her chin like a dark curtain. She squints, sticks out her tongue in a funny grimace, and the captions say what everybody is thinking: fair. It is a very honest comment on the situation.
Then she turns away from the camera and walks towards the wall, hood up, hands on her head, trying to protect what is left of her hairstyle. The word stop appears on the screen, and it is not clear whether she is talking to the wind, the camera, or her own sense of dignity.
Later we see her tilting her head back with her hands behind her ears, eyes closed, looking like a tired but strangely peaceful sunbather in a storm. Another caption reads no, which in this case is probably the answer to every question life asks her at the moment.
The funniest part is the extreme close-up at the end. Face filling the screen, hair covering half of it, eyebrows doing all the talking. It is the face of someone who has fully accepted the situation and decided to find it hilarious.
That is the secret of such days. You cannot control the wind, you cannot fix the hair, and you definitely cannot argue with the weather. But you can laugh at it, stand there in a cozy hoodie, and accept that sometimes the best hairstyle is the one nature gives you. And a warm cup of tea waiting at home.
