When DIY Turns Into a Comedy Show
Every DIY moment has one of three outcomes: success, mild frustration, or an unexpected comedy show starring your spouse.
In this case, it was definitely the third one.
The Focused Beginning
It starts with a man focused on fixing something important something involving tools, measurements, and the kind of concentration usually reserved for people trying not to mess up halfway through a project.
He’s fully in the zone, leaning over his work, trying to get everything just right.
Enter: The Wife
Enter: his wife.
She walks in with that familiar energy that says, “I want to help,” which can either be a blessing or the beginning of chaos.
At first, she’s just watching. Curious. Supportive. Innocent.
Then suddenly, in a completely unexpected moment of “helpfulness,” she playfully pokes his butt.
There is a brief pause.
The man freezes.
The wife bursts into laughter immediately, clearly proud of her contribution to the project’s morale.
The man does not laugh.
Teamwork Begins (Sort Of)
Next phase: measurement time.
The man, still trying to stay focused, hands her a measuring tool and asks her to hold the other end so they can check the size properly.
Simple instruction. Clear task. A moment of teamwork.
But teamwork, as it turns out, is not on today’s agenda.
The Walking Measurement Problem
Instead of standing still and holding the meter in place, she starts walking.
Just… walking away.
Slowly stretching the measurement across the room like it’s a suggestion rather than a requirement.
The tape (or meter) follows her like a confused loyal pet that wasn’t trained for this situation.
The man stares.
Processing.
Recalculating life choices.
Mission: Survive Collaboration
The wife, meanwhile, is laughing uncontrollably, fully enjoying the confusion she has created.
The more serious the man becomes, the funnier she finds it.
At this point, the project is no longer about fixing anything.
It’s about surviving collaboration.
Love vs Instructions
The man finally gives her a look that mixes frustration, disbelief, and “how did I end up here?”
She continues laughing.
Because in her mind, she is helping.
Just not in any officially recognized measurement system.
The Real DIY Lesson
And somewhere between pokes, walking tape measures, and uncontrollable laughter, the DIY project quietly transforms into a reminder:
Sometimes love doesn’t assist the task…
It just makes the task a lot more entertaining.
